Why Your UPSC Photo Matters
Every year, thousands of highly qualified candidates have their Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) applications rejected simply because their uploaded photograph or signature did not meet the strict official guidelines. The UPSC uses automated software to scan uploads, meaning even slight deviations in file size or dimensions can lead to instant disqualification.
Official UPSC Photograph Requirements
- Dimensions: Must be exactly 350 pixels (width) by 350 pixels (height) as a minimum, and 1000 x 1000 pixels as a maximum.
- File Size: Between 20 KB and 300 KB.
- Format: Only .JPG or .JPEG formats are accepted.
- Background: A plain white or light-colored background is mandatory.
- Content: Your face should cover 3/4th of the photo. No hats, dark glasses, or masks. You must look directly into the camera.
Official UPSC Signature Requirements
- Dimensions: Minimum 350 x 350 pixels, Maximum 1000 x 1000 pixels.
- File Size: Between 20 KB and 300 KB.
- Format: .JPG or .JPEG only.
- Content: You must sign on white paper with a black ink pen. Scan the signature block only, do not scan the entire page.
